ABOUT BRAIN STORM

It started with a question.

It started with a question.

It started with a question.

Not an answer.

Not an answer.

Brain Storm Studios was founded to build a programmable experimental platform for studying relationships among sensory events, movement, timing, perception, and action.

The company began with lived experience and curiosity.

Its scientific claims must be earned through evidence.

WHY BRAIN STORM EXISTS

Questions that crossed disciplinary boundaries.

Questions that crossed disciplinary boundaries.

Questions that crossed disciplinary boundaries.

After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disorder, founder Mike Mooney became increasingly interested in observations and questions that did not fit neatly inside one discipline.

Those questions led to experiments.

The experiments began becoming a platform.

How do sensory information, movement, timing, perception, and action interact?

How do sensory information, movement, timing, perception, and action interact?

Why can individual parts of a system remain capable while their relationships become harder to coordinate?

Why can individual parts of a system remain capable while their relationships become harder to coordinate?

What becomes experimentally visible if some of those relationships can be controlled?

What becomes experimentally visible if some of those relationships can be controlled?

Lived experience generated questions and urgency.

It is not scientific proof of Brain Storm’s hypotheses.

FOUNDED BY MIKE AND ELLIE MOONEY

Founder-led. Expert-enabled.

Founder-led. Expert-enabled.

Founder-led. Expert-enabled.

Brain Storm Studios was founded by Mike and Ellie Mooney to turn those questions into something testable.

Mike’s role is to build and steward the vision, questions, platform direction, partnerships, and experimental agenda.

Ellie is a co-founder and an important part of the company’s development, communication, and growth.

The company is intentionally being built with scientists, clinicians, engineers, human-factors experts, computational researchers, haptics specialists, and others who can challenge the work.

The founder does not need to be the authority on every discipline.

The platform needs to be able to learn from people who are.

Brain Storm does not treat a compelling model as proof.

A model should make itself vulnerable to evidence.

If observations disagree with the model, the model should change.

Confidence should rise only when evidence does.

Confidence should rise only when evidence does.

ONE PLATFORM. MANY PERSPECTIVES.

No single perspective is the whole system.

No single perspective is the whole system.

No single perspective is the whole system.

Different measurements, modalities, models, and disciplines may describe different local views of a larger relational structure.

Brain Storm’s approach is to preserve those differences rather than force them prematurely into one explanation.

The goal is to create experimental infrastructure in which multiple perspectives can be expressed, compared, challenged, and revised.

Different models. One testable environment.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

A platform, not a recipe.

A platform, not a recipe.

A platform, not a recipe.

Brain Storm is building reusable experimental infrastructure rather than one fixed sensory intervention.

The public architecture remains:

Protocol → Pattern Engine → Coordinate System → Output Adapters → Measurement & Logging

Visual · Audio · Tactile · +

Visual, audio, tactile, and future modalities remain independently programmable.

Apple Vision Pro is the current spatial-computing environment used to develop and test portions of the platform.

Current development is focused on a single-user experimental platform.

WHY PARKINSON’S DISORDER FIRST

Focus creates discipline.

Focus creates discipline.

Focus creates discipline.

Parkinson’s disorder is Brain Storm’s focused initial application because it presents meaningful questions involving movement, sensory processing, timing, attention, and coordination across systems.

That focus provides a demanding environment in which to build, test, measure, and revise the platform.

Parkinson’s disorder gives Brain Storm focus.

It does not define the limits of the architecture.

THE FAMILY CONTEXT

Built inside a real life.

Built inside a real life.

Built inside a real life.

Brain Storm did not begin in a laboratory or inside an established technology company.

It developed alongside family life, Parkinson’s disorder, work, questions, experiments, uncertainty, and the decision to keep testing.

The family context is part of the story.

It is not scientific evidence.

WHAT WE VALUE

How we want to build.

How we want to build.

Testability

Scientific humility

Constructive skepticism

Independent expertise

Clear evidence boundaries

Reproducibility

Interoperability

Open collaboration

Protected enabling infrastructure

Respect for uncertainty

Build boldly. Claim carefully.

WHAT BRAIN STORM IS NOT

Useful boundaries.

Useful boundaries.

Useful boundaries.

Not a claim that one theory explains human coordination.

Not a claim that synchrony is always desirable.

Not a claim of therapeutic efficacy.

Not a claim that Apple Vision Pro is the permanent platform.

Not a claim that the founder replaces domain experts.

Not a closed system requiring every collaborator to use the same model.

Brain Storm is a platform for making more questions testable.

WHERE THIS COULD GO

Start focused. Build for reuse.

Start focused. Build for reuse.

Start focused. Build for reuse.

Brain Storm’s near-term work is focused on developing and testing the platform carefully.

If the architecture proves useful, the same underlying system may support research across additional clinical, rehabilitation, human-performance, training, and experimental settings.

Expansion should follow evidence—not enthusiasm alone.

Bring the question.

We are building the infrastructure to make more of them testable.
